Find a base that fits your trip

Where to stay for the Evian Championship
Our suggestion: stay in Évian-les-Bains for the simplest golf-focused break, or compare Thonon-les-Bains if your daily connection works. Lausanne adds a lake crossing and Geneva adds a longer approach, so choose those bases for a wider holiday rather than proximity alone.

Where to stay for the Irish Open at The K Club
Our suggestion: compare Straffan first for proximity, then Naas, Maynooth and Celbridge for a Kildare town base. Dublin suits a city holiday with golf excursions, provided you organise the final road connection to The K Club.

Where to stay for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship
Our suggestion: stay in St Andrews if the Old Course and Sunday finish are your priority, or Carnoustie if you want to concentrate there. Dundee can suit a wider city stay, while Crail and Anstruther work best when you are planning a coastal holiday and a reliable course transfer.

Where to stay for the Senior Open at Royal Porthcawl
Our suggestion: begin with Porthcawl for a coastal golf break, or Bridgend if rail arrival matters and you can arrange the final road journey. Cardiff and Swansea suit city stays with a planned daily connection to Royal Porthcawl.

Where to stay for the Women’s Irish Open at Dun Laoghaire
Our suggestion: compare Bray and Enniskerry for access to the Ballyman Glen venue, or Dún Laoghaire and Dalkey for a coastal stay with a planned onward transfer. Dun Laoghaire Golf Club is near Enniskerry, away from the town whose name it carries.

Where to stay for The Open 2027 at St Andrews
Our suggestion: stay in St Andrews for the simplest evenings and least complicated local journey, or compare Dundee and nearby Fife towns if you can organise the daily transfer. Choose the journey to the spectator entrance before choosing the room.

Where to stay for the Ryder Cup 2027: Adare and Limerick
Our suggestion: start with Adare for proximity or Limerick for a city base, then match the room to your confirmed tournament transport. The Ryder Cup competition runs from 17–19 September 2027, within the official event week of 13–19 September.

Where to stay for the AIG Women’s Open at Sandwich
Our suggestion: begin in Sandwich for proximity to Royal St George’s, then compare Deal for a coastal stay or Canterbury for a city break. Every alternative needs a complete journey to the championship entrance, not just a train to east Kent.

Where to stay for the Scottish Open: North Berwick and East Lothian
Our suggestion: compare North Berwick and Gullane first for a golf-focused stay, or Edinburgh for a city break with a planned onward connection. The Renaissance Club is outside North Berwick’s town centre, so a train to the town is only part of your journey.

Where to stay for the BMW PGA: Virginia Water, Windsor and Surrey
Our suggestion: start in Virginia Water for proximity to Wentworth, then compare Egham, Staines and Ascot against your chosen travel connection. Windsor suits a wider leisure break; Heathrow-area rooms need careful checking because airport convenience does not automatically mean golf convenience.

Where to stay for the British Masters: Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham
Our suggestion: compare Sutton Coldfield for a local town base and Birmingham city centre for a larger city break, with a planned road connection to The Belfry. The resort is at Wishaw, so arriving at a station called Sutton Coldfield does not finish the journey.

Where to stay for The Open 2028: Lytham St Annes and Blackpool
Our suggestion: start with St Annes or Ansdell and Fairhaven for proximity to Royal Lytham & St Annes, then compare Lytham and Blackpool against your daily journey. The confirmed championship week is 30 July–6 August 2028, with competition from 3–6 August.

Where to stay for Carnoustie and Angus golf
Our suggestion: choose Carnoustie for a golf-first stay, Dundee for city evenings or Arbroath for an Angus coastal break. Match the accommodation address to your actual course entrance and return transport before booking.

Where to stay for Portrush and the Causeway Coast
Our suggestion: stay in Portrush to focus on Royal Portrush, Portstewart for a neighbouring seaside break or Coleraine for transport connections. Decide how you will reach the authorised course entrance before choosing a room.

Where to stay for Hoylake and the Wirral
Our suggestion: choose Hoylake or West Kirby for a coastal golf break, and Liverpool when city time matters as much as the course. Use the Merseyrail journey planner to compare the complete journey from each property to the correct entrance.

Where to stay for Troon and Ayrshire golf
Our suggestion: begin with Troon for the simplest local stay, then compare Prestwick and Ayr along the railway. Glasgow suits a city-and-golf break if the full outward and return journey fits the day you want.

Where to stay in Southport for Royal Birkdale
Our suggestion: begin with Southport, Birkdale or Hillside for a visit centred on Royal Birkdale. Liverpool works when you also want a city break and can make the Merseyrail journey fit your course day.

Where to stay for Gleneagles and Perthshire golf
Our suggestion: start in Auchterarder for a visit focused on Gleneagles, or choose Perth when a city base helps the rest of the party. Crieff and Stirling can work for a broader holiday if the daily course transfer is arranged.

Edinburgh as a base for Scottish golf
Our suggestion: use Edinburgh for a city holiday with selected golf days, rather than assuming it is the easiest base for every championship. Choose the neighbourhood from the transport you will actually use to East Lothian or St Andrews.

Dublin as a base for Irish golf
Our suggestion: use Dublin when city time matters alongside the golf, then choose the neighbourhood for your actual course journey. The K Club, Dun Laoghaire Golf Club and Portmarnock require different transfers; one central room is not automatically best for all three.

Where to stay for Royal Cinque Ports and Deal
Start with Deal for a Royal Cinque Ports visit, then compare Walmer and Sandwich if their daily transfer suits you. Canterbury adds a city break, with a longer journey to plan around the 21–26 June 2027 Women’s Amateur Championship.
